  • [20:02] <@[Chair]Andrew> *Bangs Gavel* Calling to Order this Board of Directors Meeting, on this date September 18th, 2012, 2000 hours local (PDT). We have a Non-Quorum Gathering tonight.
  • [20:02] <@[Chair]Andrew> Our Agenda today is:
  • [20:02] <@[Chair]Andrew> * Code cleanups remaining for Gold
  • [20:02] <@[Chair]Andrew> * Data conversion status - fixes for convertor
  • [20:02] <@[Chair]Andrew> * Documentation update, screenshots etc
  • [20:02] <@[Chair]Andrew> We had our first Beta Release, an excellent slew of Feature Requests and Bugs fixed. :D
  • [20:03] <@[Chair]Andrew> Our First Item of Business is Code Clean ups. Over to Code SB James. *Hands Talking Stick to James*
  • [20:03] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Thanks Drew
  • [20:04] <jamesd[Code_SB]> There has been quite the code frenzy over the past few weeks in the lead-up to beta and then in bug fixing afterwards. Stats since last meeting are Feature Requests: 24 created and 32 resolved, and bugs: 58 created and 103 resolved! We should have a solid second beta out this weekend, with it already containing 40 bug fixes since 5.17.17.
  • [20:04] <jamesd[Code_SB]> There are a couple of converter issues to iron out before release, but there don't appear to be any blockers at this stage. I am intending to run a couple of actions such as spending skill points through a performance profiler (YourKit) to see if we can tune them a bit though. Overall I'd expect three or four beta releases until we hit the release candidate stage.
  • [20:04] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Also of note is that a full French translation has been contributed by Vincent Lhote and he has also contributed a starter Japanese translation.
  • [20:04] <jamesd[Code_SB]> On the release front, the first beta went out just over a week ago and has had over 500 downloads. I'll aim to get another beta out this weekend. The autobuild is currently not active as it has failed under the new version of Jenkins I upgraded to last weekend. I've put considerable effort into resolving the issue, with help from Anestis too, but have not been able to get it going yet. I'll likely deploy a manual build before the release so that people can do some testing beforehand.
  • [20:05] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Any questions?
  • [20:06] <@[Chair]Andrew> - Awesome effort. Always nice to see the code team so active and productive :D
  • [20:07] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Thanks!
  • [20:07] <@[Chair]Andrew> I just spoke to Eric, so I'll handle the response to our third agenda item (He had an early morning so couldn't join us)
  • [20:08] <jamesd[Code_SB]> I've probably covered the first and much of the second
  • [20:08] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Adrew, I assume you are waiting on the LST converter fixes before processing more sets?
  • [20:08] <@[Chair]Andrew> Our Next item is the Data Converter. I gave it a good run over the weekend and we had a few good issues pop up which James has been addressing and fixing. All data Sets of the GameMode 35e got run through the wringer.
  • [20:09] <@[Chair]Andrew> James - Yes, I'd like the AUTO: taken care of ;)
  • [20:09] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Nice!
  • [20:09] <jamesd[Code_SB]> :)
  • [20:09] <jamesd[Code_SB]> That'll be my agenda for the evening - getting those fixed
  • [20:09] <@[Chair]Andrew> It also caught the PCGen Testing Set which brought to light an issue we might not have otherwise caught till much later.
  • [20:10] <@[Chair]Andrew> James has been doing an awesome job of adding Unit round Robin tests to make sure we catch those in the future.
  • [20:11] <@[Chair]Andrew> As soon as all converter issues are settled, I'll run the rest of the sets through the Converter, along with 35e again.
  • [20:11] <@[Chair]Andrew> It should also be interesting to see how older homebrews work, so I WILL be using it on my personal sets.
  • [20:11] <@[Chair]Andrew> Any questions on the Data Converter?
  • [20:11] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Good to hear
  • [20:12] <PapaDRB> Yup. I have homebrews to convert too...hhe
  • [20:12] <@[Chair]Andrew> Our Last Official Agenda item is Documentation and screenshots.
  • [20:12] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Any objections if I look at one or two requests for the data converter, particualrly around running it easier to run multiple times?
  • [20:13] <@[Chair]Andrew> @JAMES - Not at all, I'd appreciate ANY and all Features you implement. :)
  • [20:13] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Just wanted to check given we are in beta
  • [20:13] <@[Chair]Andrew> Question about the converter since we're on the topic
  • [20:13] <@[Chair]Andrew> Any reason we don't allow a 'Convert All' setting?
  • [20:14] <@[Chair]Andrew> i.e. why is it grouping by gameMode?
  • [20:14] <jamesd[Code_SB]> It is loading the data and that needs to happen within the context of a game mode
  • [20:15] <@[Chair]Andrew> Gotcha.
  • [20:15] <@[Chair]Andrew> I think Converter FREQs should be allowed during Beta since that's the only time we typically run it and discover issues.
  • [20:16] <@[Chair]Andrew> and it gets a thorough work out before final release - so it's not going to disrupt anything to me.
  • [20:17] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Very true
  • [20:17] <@[Chair]Andrew> Any more comments on the converter before delving into the third item?
  • [20:17] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Nope I'm good
  • [20:17] <@[Chair]Andrew> Papa?
  • [20:17] <PapaDRB> No questions from me, thanks.
  • [20:18] <@[Chair]Andrew> Okay, I spoke with Eric. He's working on screenshots and said that he'll be updating those starting tomorrow.
  • [20:19] <@[Chair]Andrew> The docs, I've been raising trackers as I encounter out of date or missing tags (Which happened with CHOOSE:PCSTAT). Over-all, I think the docs are looking awesome.
  • [20:19] <jamesd[Code_SB]> I have one more change planned which would affect the screen shots - that is putting a tip onto the background screen shown when no characters are loaded
  • [20:19] <@[Chair]Andrew> We will need to update the Walk Throughs to encompass the newest features of the new UI.
  • [20:20] <@[Chair]Andrew> Nice :)
  • [20:20] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Yes the docs are great - I generally check them before code these days
  • [20:20] <@[Chair]Andrew> Any questions for Doc Review and Updates?
  • [20:20] <PapaDRB> Not from me.
  • [20:21] <jamesd[Code_SB]> We had the discussion about moving the faq from the docs to the wiki
  • [20:21] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Is everyone ok with that plan?
  • [20:21] <@[Chair]Andrew> I think it's a good plan
  • [20:21] <PapaDRB> Sounds good
  • [20:21] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Likewise
  • [20:23] <@[Chair]Andrew> Okay, open items -
  • [20:23] <@[Chair]Andrew> Releases - I reviewed Ultimate Magic and that is now in the release
  • [20:24] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Great to hear
  • [20:24] <PapaDRB> Yea !
  • [20:24] <@[Chair]Andrew> I'm happy to report we have fully functioning Ranges for Both Thrown and Ranged Weapons!
  • [20:24] <PapaDRB> Cool...
  • [20:24] <@[Chair]Andrew> That one was a beast to solve.
  • [20:24] <@[Chair]Andrew> We hammered out a few OS bugs and Freqs
  • [20:25] <@[Chair]Andrew> Data Bugs are getting squashed as they appear. And a few bugs that should have been Features made it in.
  • [20:25] <@[Chair]Andrew> My next major project will be getting Ultimate Combat into the release.
  • [20:26] <@[Chair]Andrew> Pretty much everything is in place at this point, just data clean up left and testing. :)
  • [20:26] <@[Chair]Andrew> Okay, any open issues or things to share?
  • [20:26] <@[Chair]Andrew> Papa?
  • [20:26] <jamesd[Code_SB]> That's two pretty important sources on the way - kudos to the data team for that
  • [20:27] <@[Chair]Andrew> (Open Forum at this point, any bystanders/lurkers are welcome to jump in)
  • [20:27] <razmatic> Just waiting for the autobuild to be fixed and working on Kingmaker Ch 2.
  • [20:27] <PapaDRB> Nothing from my end. When we release 6.0, I'll put a scoop on Enworld, but other than that, things are normal release notices
  • [20:28] <@[Chair]Andrew> Thanks James. I've been working with both sets. Those are a major Time Commitment. I'm impressed with the good work by the data monkeys who worked on the sets.
  • [20:30] <jamesd[Code_SB]> @razmatic - the autobuild will be manual for a bit - I've exhausted the options for resolving it at this stage
  • [20:30] <razmatic> Understood
  • [20:30] <@[Chair]Andrew> Would rolling back to an older version be feasible at this point James?
  • [20:31] <jamesd[Code_SB]> Its still an option I am considering
  • [20:31] <jamesd[Code_SB]> But I won't act until after the next beta is out - more important for me to fix bugs
  • [20:32] <PapaDRB> Yea, bug hunting is good!!
  • [20:32] <@[Chair]Andrew> Agreed. Lots of things hanging on fixes and updates.
  • [20:32] <PapaDRB> James, do you have a few minutes to stick around after the gavel goes down?
  • [20:33] <@[Chair]Andrew> That seems to be it. Unless there is anything else...
  • [20:33] <@[Chair]Andrew> *Bangs Gavel* Meeting Adjourned. Thanks for coming everyone.
