Release Meeting

Board Members Present:

  • Code/Arch - James Dempsey
  • Admin/Content - Andrew Maitland

Observers:

  • David Bender
  • Swiftbrook
  • Menichee

SUMMARY:

  • Data has discovered a number of issues that need to be resolved before RC is released. Andrew asked for a postponement till those issues can be rectified.

Issues Identified:

  • Arcanis is fragile in it's over-dependent set up on RSRD. Andrew is working to fix this, or will pull the set until it can be made less fragile.
  • Numerous DEFINE not 0 still popping up in the Sets. Andrew is testing all the sets and fixing them.
  • Unit Test "Bob" has an issue with CAST being 0 from 8. James is investigating the cause - Andrew suspects it's the special case DEFINE he changed DEFINE:MAXLEVELSTAT=INT|x
  • A few reports of errors with Spells have popped up, that seem tied to a load order. James will investigate.
  • OS has an issue with Ammo displaying incorrect 'To Hit' values. James is investigating this as well.

LOG:

  • [17:09] <@[Chair]Andrew> *Bangs Gavel* Welcome to our Board of Director's meeting, August 29th/30th
  • [17:09] <@[Chair]Andrew> Our agenda is release status of 6.4 and any issues surrounding that.
  • [17:10] <@[Chair]Andrew> James, floor is yours.
  • [17:10] <James[Code_SB]> ok, well 6.3.6 went out earlier in the week, We've had a few bug reports which are being fixed
  • [17:11] <James[Code_SB]> I don't see any blockers there but OS-360 would be good to sort out pre RC1
  • [17:11] <@[Chair]Andrew> Agreed
  • [17:11] <James[Code_SB]> In general I think we are on track for the RC1 release
  • [17:11] <@[Chair]Andrew> Raises hand
  • [17:12] <@[Chair]Andrew> Ahem, well, bad news on the data side...
  • [17:12] <@[Chair]Andrew> We have a broken data set, and some untested game systems which may have non 0 defines and other bugs.
  • [17:13] <James[Code_SB]> Right, so some work to be done there. Which data set is broken?
  • [17:13] <@[Chair]Andrew> Due to holiday weekend, I do not know how much free time I will have to sort that all out. I know it would be bad for deprecation warnings for a release though.
  • [17:14] <@[Chair]Andrew> The usual suspect... Arcanis and company...
  • [17:14] <James[Code_SB]> Yep, there isn;t a rush to get to RC1, we just need to have things stable
  • [17:14] <@[Chair]Andrew> Frankly, I'm tempted to yank the whole campaign till I can set it up correctly so it isn't so fragile.
  • [17:15] <@[Chair]Andrew> With all that, the team is working on the bugs, but I do not feel we are on track for a the RC till Monday/Tuesday at the earliest.
  • [17:15] <James[Code_SB]> Cool
  • [17:16] <@[Chair]Andrew> My pleas for bug hunting was answered... what can I say. :P
  • [17:17] <James[Code_SB]> :) Always best to get these reports before the release
  • [17:17] <@[Chair]Andrew> Totally agree there.
  • [17:17] <@[Chair]Andrew> Manichee has been tackling some of the bugs for me...
  • [17:18] <@[Chair]Andrew> He's using GITHUB and I'm waiting on Allard to push those into SVN... I can't run PrettyLST till everything is sync'd
  • [17:19] <@[Chair]Andrew> Data items: 1) Fix the bugs 1b) Fix or pull Arcanis; 2) Run PrettyLST - then we're good for release.
  • [17:19] <@[Chair]Andrew> 1c) Fix Bob
  • [17:20] <@[Chair]Andrew> I'm not sure if Bob is anything to hold the release, but I haven't investigated his issue yet.
  • [17:20] <James[Code_SB]> Bob as in the character test?
  • [17:20] <@[Chair]Andrew> Yes
  • [17:21] <@[Chair]Andrew> His CAST got altered from 8 to 0 from the summary.
  • [17:21] <@[Chair]Andrew> If that is the DEFINE gamemode changes, then we have a bigger problem.
  • [17:22] <James[Code_SB]> Indeed, in which case I can disable the deprecation of non zero defines
  • [17:23] <@[Chair]Andrew> I believe the issue was the special case DEFINE:x=y|z syntax that is in the gamemode.
  • [17:25] <@[Chair]Andrew> DEFINE:MAXLEVELSTAT=INT|
  • [17:26] <@[Chair]Andrew> Anyways, that's the only major data issue. Code side, have you thought about the load order issue people are now reporting?
  • [17:26] <James[Code_SB]> Haven't even looked at it yet - no time
  • [17:26] <James[Code_SB]> Plan is to check it out tomrrow
  • [17:26] <@[Chair]Andrew> Fair enough.
  • [17:27] <@[Chair]Andrew> As far as other teams, I would want to check with Eric, but I think he's waiting on answers from Tom for some Newtag documentation entries.
  • [17:27] <@[Chair]Andrew> Otherwise, I don't believe anything is holding up Docs for release.
  • [17:28] <@[Chair]Andrew> Anything else we need to touch on before we wrap up?
  • [17:29] <James[Code_SB]> I'll have a look at that failure in bob and see if I can spot what is wrong - will let you know
  • [17:29] <@[Chair]Andrew> Thanks.
  • [17:30] <@[Chair]Andrew> Any questions from the observers?
  • [17:32] <@[Chair]Andrew> *Bangs Gavel* Thanks for coming everyone. Meeting is closed.
