[Maredudd] Can you give an example of use using a real game mechanic? [/Maredudd]

[Andrew] Yes, I have one mechanic where this is a tricky beast - I almost need two pools for skills in this. But anyways..

Eclipse: The Codex Persona uses a Point Buy system to purchase Skill Points for each Level you gain. You start off with 0 points in your level, you do gain Int Modifier for that level (WHICH is supposed to be the second pool). Anyways, you purchase a Skill Point for one Character Point. Ideally, I'd like to be able to say "Buy 6 Skill Points for 2nd Level".

Anyways, this is a case where each level you can have a Different Amount of skill points.

Example: I'm playing Habathor the scholarly. I decide that at first level, I would like 12 Skill Points for first level 'Assume I am following the Adventurer Framework which limits me to a max of 12'. I purchase 12 CP worth of Skills for 1st level. Now, because I chose to purchase 'Adeptx2' I have Four Skills I'm maxing out to 4 at 1st level and another four I have at 2 (Separate Proposal). Now, since I want to just maintain those eight skills for next level, at 2nd I take another 2 Skill Points (for the original four) and then another 6 skill points for a total of 8 Skills purchased at 2nd level. To maintain all eight skills I'll buy 4 Skill Points each level beyond, assuming I have a Intelligence bonus I'll buy the odd skill with those.

This is required to make Eclipse work better. This proposal doesn't quite fix the Feat in 3.5e but I think we can figure out a way for that, if we add 'APPLYTOCURRENTCLASS' or something along those lines to say "Hey, whatever class I just leveled in last, that's the pool to add these points to". I'll add this note for the discussion, I just wish I could recall the feat that grants 5 skill points to the current class.
